Who We Are

Do you feel church is boring?  We've been there too.

Have you ever been alienated or hurt by a church before?  We've been there too.

Have you ever felt that church just isn't for you?  We've been there too.

Have you ever said "I don't need to go to church to believe in God, so what's church good for?"  We've been there too.

Do you feel that church just doesn't fit into your schedule?  We've been there too.

Do you feel that you would not be welcome in a church?  We've been there too.

Those who come together to worship at Pond Creek United Methodist Church come from a variety of faith backgrounds.  Some have been members of the church for a long time, others have come to the church from other denominational backgrounds. Some have returned to the church after rejecting the church for a long time.  Some have discovered the need for God and our community of faith helps them to connect in a real way, individually and corporately.  Some have discovered the strength that God provides particularly through the body of Christ.

We come together in worship that is exciting and fresh.  We come together to worship a God who is alive in  our midst and meets us where we are.  We are open and welcoming no matter where people are (or aren't) on the journey of faith.

Come and join us!  Find out how great God really is, and how the people of God can be loving, welcoming and inclusive.  We look forward to seeing you on Sunday!

What we believe

We believe that the church is called to be the body of Christ in the world, not just inside the walls of a building on Sunday mornings.

We believe that is up to us to show Christ's love to those who have not experienced it, and to teach Christ's followers how to live the teachings of Christ in their daily lives.

We believe that we come together to encourage, learn, and witness to the love of God.  Further, we believe that we can worship God individually, but we can only fully worship and live out the love of God in community.  Therefore, we believe that our presence in church community is vital to our growth spiritually and the spiritual growth of those who worship with us.

We believe that God believes in us, and we believe that God believes in you.  Come and experience the love of God with us.

“Is there a dress code?”

People come to our worship service wearing a variety of styles; everything from blue jeans to slacks and skirts.  Casual dress is common, so you will not feel out of place whether you dress up or dress down.

“Will I have to do anything?”

You can participate as much or as little as you would like.  You are encouraged to participate in the worship service as fully as you feel comfortable, so you can have the full experience of worship.

“Why do you sing songs? What if I don’t know the words?”

We sing songs as praise to God.  We recognize that we worship and learn in many ways, and many people find the music to be a significant way to connect to and worship God.  The words are on the screens at the front and rear of the sanctuary.  Page numbers of the song books are also listed on the screen if you would prefer to follow the music.

“What about bringing children?”

Children are always welcome in our worship services, but we recognize that sometimes parents feel more comfortable and able to fully enter into worship if there is something for their children.  We provide a nursery with paid staff for infants up to 4 years of age.  It is in the same building as the worship service.  There is chlidren's church available for children Kindergarten through 4th grade.  They go to the Family Life Center to learn a Bible story and play games.  The children leave for Children's church after Children's moments in the worship service and return on the last hymn.  All of our children's staff, paid and volunteer, have had a background check and follow our safe sanctuaries policies.

“How long does the service last?”

The service lasts from 10:45 until noon, and is filled with music, prayer, and is interactive between the leadership and the congregation.
